Family Linker / Support Worker

Playgroup South Australia is a community-based not-for-profit organisation committed to providing quality services and support to families with young children across South Australia. Our vision is to ensure that all children in South Australia are developmentally on-track.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced family / social services worker to join our committed, passionate and dynamic team, in the position of Family Linker / Support Worker.

How you will make a Difference:

The PlayConnect + Program is a specific program run by Playgroup South Australia to provide inclusive play opportunities to all children with disability and/or developmental concerns (either diagnosed or undiagnosed). It allows children and families / carers to participate, engage, and enjoy themselves in a safe and engaging environment.

As a Family Linker / Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing tailored, empathetic support to families/carers of children with disabilities to ease the often complex and overwhelming process of accessing appropriate services and resources. You will offer emotional support and guidance, helping families to manage the challenges and stresses associated with these processes.

Working as part of an established team, you’ll also be responsible for completing intake assessments, maintaining case notes, statistical reports, and other required documents in accordance with organisational obligations, policies and processes.

This is a part-time (24 hours per week), fixed-term employment opportunity until 30 June 2025, with conditions and salary at around Level 5.1 of the SCHCADS Award dependent on qualifications, skills, and experience.

About you…

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to hold a relevant Human Services qualification such as Social Science, Social Work, or similar.

You’ll have demonstrated knowledge and experience of working with children with disability or developmental challenges, ideally within a community setting, and high levels of awareness of the services that are available to families and children.

You’ll also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with a diverse range of people including children, their families, communities, and other stakeholders involved in the care of the child.

You’ll need a current drivers licence and a reliable vehicle, as this role involves regular travel to attend PlayConnect + playgroups throughout the state.
